SHENU Art & Yoga Sanctuary and SHENU African Living Waters Sanctuary, founded and directed by LaRenn Maman Elaine (formerly known as Queen Mother Imakhu), are cultural and spiritual organizations serving local communities in cultural education and ministry.
Based on Bantu-centric and African-diasporic Water faith traditions. The SHENU mission is to provide personal and community peace empowerment tools through art, cultural awareness, wellness practices, and community connection. SHENU also ordains ministers and initiates Ngangas into community service. Above all, SHENU is The People's Practice and LaRenn Maman is The People's Pastor. She serves as a community advocate and activist "Street Minister."

LaRenn Maman Elaine became a licensed Healing Minister in 1997, and an Ordained Interfaith Minister and Earth Steward in 1999. In 2006, LaRenn Maman Elaine was initiated as a Nganga by Don Miguel Ortiz Hill and Baba Mandaza Kandemwa. She took an oath as a healer to serve as a peacemaker and compassionate advocate for the differently-abled. Over the years, LaRenn Maman learned that peacemaking begins with the tedious, extensive process of self-healing. Her own spiritual healing has included consistent therapy/counseling, intensive yoga/meditation practice and study, and reconnecting to her ancestral faith practices. As a result, LaRenn Maman has made peace with her own inherited disabilities, and has learned the value of self-advocacy, self-protection, self-respect, and having a community-based support system. An African-diasporic theologian and initiated High Priestess of four African-based faith traditions, LaRenn Maman brings the wealth of her wisdom journey to SHENU.
As a community-minded entity, SHENU provides affordable online cultural video classes for individuals, educational groups, and families.
